Global Fundraising Campaign for “Restoration of Cultural Heritage” from UNDP

The Global Fundraiser for the Restoration of Cultural Heritage in the Southern Provinces will be launched with an event to be held in Ankara on Friday, December 8.

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is launching a global online donation campaign for the “Restoration of Cultural Heritage” following the devastating February earthquakes in southern Türkiye.

UNDP’s Global Donation Campaign for the Restoration of Cultural Heritage will be launched with an event to be held in Ankara on December 8. At the event, a website will be launched that will collect donations from all around the world to support the restoration of cultural heritage structures damaged in the February 6 earthquakes. Can Teymur, President of Iskenderun St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church Foundation, was also invited to the meeting. Teymur is expected to make a presentation about the damaged churches at the meeting.

The Importance of Cooperation and Diplomatic Efforts Will Be Discussed

As it is known, 3,752 of 8,444 historical buildings, including ruins from ancient civilizations, religious buildings and restored bazaars from the Ottoman period that are still in use, were severely damaged or completely destroyed in the February 6 earthquakes.

Attempts are made to raise funds for the restoration of buildings

The campaign aims to collect donations from international donors, Turks living abroad, private foundations, multinational companies, cultural institutions, religious organizations and individuals from Türkiye and all over the world.

Launch of Global Fundraising Campaign in Ankara

United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Türkiye, invited campaign supporters, including Museum Directors, representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, UNDP and diplomatic corps, to the launch of its global donation campaign for the restoration of cultural heritage in 11 provinces affected by earthquakes.

The launch of the UNDP campaign started for the restoration of cultural heritage in the south of Türkiye will be held on Friday, December 8, between 5 pm and 7:30 pm at the Ankara Anatolian Civilizations Museum. At the launch, Antakya Civilizations Choir will also give the “We Heard Your Voice” concert.
