At the Iskenderun Annunciation Latin Catholic Church, the “Ascension of the Virgin Mary” feast was celebrated with a special ceremony last weekend. Church Father Dariusz Dogondke led the ritual held in the Iskenderun Catholic Cathedral for the occasion of the Virgin Mary.
Father Dogondke, who gave a sermon in the mass, mentioned the holiness of the Virgin Mary by saying; “My soul rejoices thanks to God! These words were spoken by the Virgin Mary at the beginning of her new life. She wanted to give her life not for herself, but to fulfill the Father’s desire. Today she can truly rejoice, for the salvation she expected and desired has been fulfilled. We thank her for being faithful to God who spoke to her. We are happy to see that God is also faithful and we are happy that she will reward us for our loyalty to Him.”
In the ritual, after the “Father in Heaven” prayer, the prayer “Greetings to you Mary” was also read and prayers were prayed.(SAT-7 TÜRK HABER/İlyas Edip Terbiyeli-İskenderun)
