The Holy Synod of the Antakya Patriarchate made important decisions at the meeting held at the Balamand Monastery on Thursday, October 7th.
At the meeting, the Metropolitan of Aleppo and Iskenderun, Pavlus Yazıcı, who was abducted 9 years ago and was never heard from again, was transferred to the Honorary Metropolitan of Diyarbakir in his absence, while Afram Malouli, the Deputy Patriarch and Bishop of Seleucia, was elected to the Metropolitan of Aleppo and Iskenderun.
Said in the statement made on the subject; “The Holy Synod of the Antioch Patriarchate discussed the subject of the Metropolitanate of Aleppo and Iskenderun at its meeting held in Balamand Monastery today. Respected Metropolitan of Aleppo and Iskenderun, Pavlus Yazıcı was transferred to the Honorary Metropolitan of Diyarbakır due to his 9-year absence due to kidnapping. Afram Malouli, the Deputy Patriarch and Bishop of Seleucia, has been elected to the Metropolitan of Aleppo and Iskenderun.”
In line with the decision taken, Afram Malouli, the Deputy Patriarch and Bishop of Seleucia, who was elected to the Metropolitan of Aleppo and Iskenderun, came to the region many times, participated in the events held here and chatted with the members of the congregation.
