Young people from different churches in Istanbul came together at the Awakening Youth on Saturday, May 7th. The program started with the speaker reading Romans 5:1-11 from the Bible, and Michel Geske and his worship group from Ankara took their places on the stage. The youth praised the Lord with hymns and offered their prayers.
After the worship, the short film on “Prayer and Longing” was watched together. During the time of “praying for a city every month”, a prayer was said for Gümüşhane this month. After Sinem Melis Yıldırım from Bible House Immanuel Church shared a brief information about Gümüşhane, prayers were said for the proclamation of the Gospel in the city, the formation of church communities and the well-being of the valuable people. Then, those born in May were invited to the stage and Banu Çelik prayed for them.
Speaker Banu Çelik touched upon the value given by Christianity despite the discrimination experienced by women and slaves during the Roman Empire.
Çelik asked the young people and encouraged them to think: “Well, what can we change about creating a Christian culture today? What is our stance against injustice, violence against women, corruption, discrimination and injustice?”
After sharing, the Lord was glorified again with hymns. The youth humbly offered their prayers to the Lord.
After the worship, it was announced that the Ankara Awakening Youth meeting would be held on May 14. It has been announced that the next Istanbul Awakening Youth meeting will take place on Saturday, June 4th at 4 pm at the UG Hall.
Awakening Youth meetings are for Christian youth and open to all Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant youth. (SAT-7 TURK/SMY)
