The first Sunday service after the earthquake was held in the destroyed Antioch Protestant Church. A mass was held in front of the wreckage of the church. George Kocamahhul, the head of the Antioch Protestant Church and head of the community, said that they went to sleep on the night of February 5 and woke up on February 6 with ‘nothing’.

As the Antakya Protestant Church was reduced to rubble, Christian citizens gathered in front of it and held Sunday services. After a choral prayer, the Pastor gave a sermon to the members of the church about the earthquake and urged them to be calm. The Pastor of the church said that they were deeply saddened by the earthquake disaster and asked all people around the world to pray for them and Turkey.
