The Armenian faithful from various cities of Turkey came together in Iskenderun for the occasion of the parish feast of the Karasun Manuk Armenian Church and the 40 Martyrs (Saints) Commemorative Day.
This pilgrimage of the Armenian community started in Istanbul and continued through the Kayseri Surp Krikor Lusavoriç Armenian Church and then the community got together at the İskenderun Karasun Manuk Armenian Church for the ‘Name Day’ of the Church and the Commemoration of the 40 Martyrs.
The mass is led by Rev. Şahen Ohanyan who concelebrated with Rev. Harutyun Damadyan, Rev. Kevork Çınaryan, Rev Drtad Uzunyan, Iskenderun Karasun Manuk Armenian Church Parish priest Avedis Tabaşyan, deacons and the choir.
40 Martyrs of the Region were Commemorated
Rev. Harutyun Damatyan gave a short sermon and explained how forty Christian soldiers were martyrized in the in the 4th century in Sivas during the Roman Empire.
