Young people from different churches of Istanbul came together again at Awakening Youth on Saturday, January 6.
The program, hosted by Yonatan Günay, continued with the hymns sung by Özgür Tunç and the worship group. After the worship, the short film titled ‘Shepherd’ was watched together.
During the “Prayer for a city every month” part, a prayer was said for Tokat this month. After Arek Özboyar from Gedikpaşa Protestant Church shared brief information about Tokat, prayers were said for the proclamation of the Gospel, (Word of God) the formation of church communities and the well-being of the valuable people in the city.
Then, those born in January were invited to the stage and prayed for by Pastor Daniel Günay.
Sharing about the Word of God, Daniel Günay, encouraged the young people with these words: “Our hope is not in this world. As believers, we long for the coming of the Lord. Each of us are the children of the King and we must stand ready as if he will come at any moment. The Lord will come and renew everything. When our Lord comes, we too will be renewed and we will have heavenly bodies.”
After sharing, the Lord was glorified again with hymns. The young people offered their prayers to the Lord with humble hearts. After the meeting, we all had dinner and chatted together during fellowship time.
It was announced that the next Istanbul Awakening Youth meeting will take place on Saturday, February 3, at 4 pm in the UG Hall.
Awakening Youth meetings are aimed at Christian youth and are open to the participation of all Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant youth.
