Awakening Youth, which has brought together Christian youth from different churches since 2008, came together again on April 2nd. The event began with the reading of Psalms 40:1-8. Then continued with hymns glorifying God. At the time of worship led by Özgür Tunç, praise was given to God. The youth came before the Lord with their prayers.
After the time of worship, the short film ‘Prayer and Peace’ was watched together. It was followed by an Awakening Youth classic, ‘Praying for a city every month’. This month’s city was Hatay. After Sinem Melis Yıldırım from Bible House Immanuel Church shared some information about Hatay, prayers were said for churches, believers and valuable people. Then, the young people born in April were invited to the stage and prayed by Bilge İleri, the pastor of the Istanbul City Church.
The event continued with the sharing of the Word of God. Pastor Bilge İleri encouraged young people by sharing about “being mature and competent” on Hebrews 5:1-14. Pastor İleri said, “What do you prioritize in your life? Today’s text asks us about this topic. The sign of maturity is to distinguish between good and bad. How can we distinguish between good and bad? Many people act according to conscience. Some make decisions based on the news they hear or the environment. However, we can distinguish between good and evil only by sticking to the Word of God. The purpose of being mature is to be a teacher. That is, to be competent, and these words apply to every believer.”
The activity continued with worship. The youth humbly brought their hearts before the Lord. It has been announced that the next Istanbul Awakening Youth meeting will take place on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the UG Hall.
