A new priest is ordained and appointed to the Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in Antioch
The ordination of Yuhanna Abdullah Papasoğlu as priest took place at the Greek Orthodox Church of Altınözü, Antioch.
The appointment of Yuhanna Abdullah Papasoğlu, one of the residents of the Sarılar Neighborhood of Altınözü district of Antioch, was held in Altınözü Sarılar St. Georgios Greek Orthodox Church, through the hands of His Beatitude the Patriarch of Antioch and the East John X. and the Metropolitan Bishop of Latakia Athanasios Fahd. After the ceremony, Rev. Yuhanna Abdullah Papasoğlu’s charge in the Saint Georgios Greek Orthodox Church of Sarılar officially started.
Metropolitan Bishop Athanasios Fahd, who personally dressed the new priest, blessed him with prayers, wished him success in his new assignment. “I wish patience and success to all of our students who are on this path. I hope our other pastor candidates will complete their formation and come to their offices as soon as possible. May God bless you all” he said.
At the ceremony, Yuhanna Abdullah Papasoğlu stated that he would fulfill this duty properly; “I extend my gratitude to all community members for giving me this opportunity. I would like to thank my family for giving me great support in this process.”
Later, the President of St. Georgios Greek Orthodox Church Foundation Münir Balıkçıoğlu said: “The patience and care of our young father, Yuhanna Abdullah Papasoğlu, should be an example for our young people. We would like to express our gratitude to the board members of the congregation and to everyone who supported the Church, especially the Patriarch of Antioch and the East John X who supported us in this process.”
After the ceremony, a cocktail was given in the garden of the church.
